ADNOC Gas plc has secured a $450 million (AED1.653 billion) agreement to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to JERA Global Markets Pte. Ltd. over three years. This deal strengthens ADNOC Gas' reputation as a dependable global energy provider and supports Japan's energy needs. The LNG will be sourced from the Das Island facility, which produces around 6.0 million tons annually.

She stated, "This agreement builds on the robust UAE-Japan energy relationship and decades of collaboration between ADNOC Gas and JERA solidifying our shared commitment to ensuring energy security and enabling a lower-carbon future. We will continue to support Japan’s energy needs and reinforce our position as a reliable partner in the global LNG market."

ADNOC Gas and JERA Sign LNG Agreement

The Das Island facility is one of the world's longest-operating LNG plants, having shipped over 3,500 cargoes globally since its inception. This agreement continues a legacy of nearly five decades of supplying Japanese companies with LNG from this facility.

Kazunori Kasai, Chief Optimisation Officer at JERA Co., Inc., expressed the importance of this partnership. He said, "As a utility-backed trader, JERA Global Markets’ purpose is to provide energy security to the communities that we serve. This supply agreement with our long-standing partner ADNOC Gas reflects the active measures we take to ensure that our global portfolio remains diverse, flexible, and competitive."

LNG is crucial in transitioning towards cleaner energy solutions worldwide due to its lower carbon emissions compared to other fossil fuels. This aligns with both companies' goals for sustainable energy practices.

Legacy of Collaboration

This latest agreement further solidifies ADNOC Gas' role as a preferred supplier in key global markets. It builds on a similar deal made in 2023, showcasing the ongoing collaboration between the UAE and Japan in the energy sector.

The partnership between ADNOC Gas and JERA exemplifies their shared dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions while maintaining energy security for their respective regions.
