ADNOC Gas Awards Front-End Engineering Contract For New Facilities At Bab Gas Cap To Worley Engineering

ADNOC Gas plc has awarded Worley Engineering Pty Ltd a contract for the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) of new gas processing facilities at Bab Gas Cap (BGC). This initiative aims to enhance ADNOC Gas' processing capacity by 20%, equating to over 1.8 billion standard cubic feet per day. A Final Investment Decision is anticipated in 2026.

The project will focus on optimising the production of natural gas liquids, condensate, sales gas, and sulfur. It aligns with ADNOC's broader strategy to expand its gas operations and contribute significantly to UAE's goal of achieving gas self-sufficiency. The facilities will incorporate cutting-edge technologies to ensure efficient processing.

Dr. Ahmed Alebri, CEO of ADNOC Gas, stated, "Today is an important step forward for this project, which has the potential to substantially increase our gas processing capacity, unlock additional revenue and strengthen ADNOC Gas’ position as a global gas supplier. This ambitious project will deploy state-of-the-art gas processing technologies and make an important contribution to the UAE’s gas self-sufficiency efforts. We are pleased to see the BGC project reach this stage."

The design scope includes developing various units such as gas processing, conditioning, acid gas recovery, dehydration, sulfur recovery, NGL recovery, and CO2 capture facilities. Additionally, it involves constructing injection facilities and utilities while designing new pipelines for transferring liquid sulfur efficiently to the Habshan Sulfur Granulation Plant.

The Bab field will supply hydrocarbons through an innovative development approach. Advanced studies have enabled simultaneous oil and gas development within the field. This strategy could unlock a potential production of 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of gas and 80 thousand barrels per day of condensate.

This project represents a significant step in ADNOC's commitment to enhancing its role as a leading global energy provider. By leveraging advanced technologies and strategic planning, ADNOC aims to meet growing energy demands while supporting UAE's energy independence goals.
