ADNOC Enhances AI Training For Emirati Engineers At Technical Academy To Shape Future Energy Leaders
ADNOC is enhancing its artificial intelligence training for Emiratis, integrating advanced tools like Neuron 5 into the ADNOC Technical Academy (ATA) curriculum. This initiative aligns with ADNOC's goal to become the most AI-enabled energy company globally by 2030, ensuring future engineers can leverage advanced technologies in the energy sector.
Neuron 5, developed with AVEVA and AIQ, is an AI-powered tool that monitors equipment, predicts faults, and enhances reliability. It has been implemented in over 20% of ADNOC’s critical infrastructure, reducing unplanned shutdowns by half and decreasing planned maintenance by 20%. Trainee engineers at ATA are now learning to use this technology.

Dr. Mariam Al Hendi, ADNOC’s Manager of Technical Excellence, states: "Bringing Neuron 5 into our training programs isn’t just about learning a new tool – it’s about preparing our people for the future of energy." The tool uses real-time data from sensors to predict issues before they arise, improving efficiency and reducing shutdowns.
By incorporating Neuron 5 into their curriculum, ADNOC ensures that Emirati engineers can contribute to smarter and safer operations from day one. They gain hands-on experience with technologies reshaping global energy systems, equipping them to make informed decisions in the field.
This AI training initiative builds on decades of digital transformation at ADNOC. Over 40,000 employees have been trained on AI fundamentals. Additionally, nearly 150 Emirati engineers graduated from ADNOC’s intensive AI Accelerator program this year, designed to embed advanced capabilities at onshore and offshore sites.
Omran Al Zarooni, a trainee at ATA, shares: "Alongside traditional technical training, I’m now learning about AI and tools like Neuron 5 are showing us how technology can completely transform energy operations." This approach prepares trainees not only for current roles but also for future industry demands.
ADNOC Technical Academy's Evolution
Since its inception in 1978, ATA has trained over 6,000 UAE Nationals. With campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Dhanna hosting 1,300 trainees today, the academy continues evolving its programs to align with ADNOC’s growth and UAE’s national development goals.
The introduction of Neuron 5 training at ATA ensures that the UAE’s energy workforce is both job-ready and future-ready. As ADNOC expands internationally, fostering AI literacy becomes crucial for success. This foundational knowledge is being cultivated from the ground up within the academy.
