ADNEC Group Wins Four Prestigious Awards At Gulf Sustainability Awards 2025 For Sustainability Efforts

ADNEC Group, part of Modon Holding, has been honoured with four awards at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2025. The accolades include two Gold Awards for Best Use of Renewable Energy and Best Sustainable Product, a Bronze Award for Best Circular Economy, and an Outstanding Contribution to Sustainability Award for Ahmed Al Obaidli, Chief Operations Officer at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.

The recognition highlights ADNEC Group's strides in reducing carbon emissions and promoting circular innovation across its venues and services. This aligns with their goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2045. Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, stated that these awards affirm their team's dedication to developing sustainability programmes that adhere to international standards.

ADNEC Group Wins Four Awards for Sustainability

Al Dhaheri expressed the group's commitment to expanding initiatives that bolster Abu Dhabi's status as a global business and tourism hub while working towards climate neutrality by 2045. "Receiving four awards at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2025 is a testament to the dedication of our teams in developing sustainability programmes and solutions that meet the highest international standards. We will continue to lead in this field by expanding our initiatives, further strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a global destination for business and tourism, and working towards our goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2045," he said.

The Gold Award for Best Use of Renewable Energy was awarded for ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi's rooftop solar PV project. This 5-megawatt-peak system is currently being implemented and is expected to provide around 30% of the venue's annual electricity needs through renewable energy. The project aims to cut approximately 6,000 tonnes of electricity-related emissions each year.

ADNEC Group’s TerraTile modular flooring, created with Terrax, earned the Gold Award for Best Sustainable Product. Made entirely from recycled event waste, each TerraTile contains over five kilograms of recycled material. This sustainable alternative to traditional exhibition floors reduces landfill waste while offering cost savings over multiple uses.

Circular Economy Initiatives

The TerraTile flooring solution also received a Bronze award in the Best Circular Economy category due to its fully circular design. These tiles can be installed, removed, refurbished over 100 times, and eventually recycled into new tiles at the end of their lifecycle. This process minimises new material usage and waste generation.

Ahmed Al Obaidli emphasised the importance of sustainability within ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi's operations: "These awards reflect the dedication and collaboration of our entire team at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, from pioneering innovative solutions to advancing renewable energy projects across our venue. As we continue our journey toward net zero, we remain committed to delivering responsible, innovative event experiences that contribute to a more sustainable future."

These achievements underscore ADNEC Group’s commitment to integrating sustainability into planning and operations. By supporting customers with lower-carbon events, they enhance Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a leader in sustainable business tourism.
