ADNEC Group Secures International Renewable Energy Certificate For Sustainable Operations

ADNEC Group, part of Modon Holding, has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining its first International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC). These certificates, produced by Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) and issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, confirm that since November 2024, all energy used at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi has been sourced from clean energy. This achievement highlights the venue's commitment to sustainability.

The certification verifies that ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi consumed over 13,700 MWh of electricity from clean sources, resulting in zero carbon dioxide emissions from electricity generation. This accomplishment was made possible through a partnership with EWEC in 2024. As a result, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi became the first and largest event venue in the Middle East and North Africa region to be entirely powered by clean energy.

Humaid Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, stated: "This milestone underscores ADNEC Group’s commitment to sustainability and our dedication to utilising clean and innovative solutions for the events industry. The I-REC Certification assessed energy consumption from November 2024 to April 2025.

During this period, ADNEC Centre hosted 166 exhibitions, conferences, and meetings powered exclusively by clean energy. The I-REC Certification was verified through the International Tracking Standard Foundation, a global leader in renewable energy schemes. This verification confirms ADNEC's dedication to sustainability claims.

As a signatory of the Net Zero Events Initiative, ADNEC Group is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across all business operations. The group collaborates with international partners and stakeholders to implement best practices for sustainable event management. These practices include resource optimisation, waste reduction, and integrating innovative green technologies.

ADNEC Group aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2045, aligning with UAE's national sustainability goals but five years ahead of the nation's target.
