AD Ports Group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Somalia's Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy. This agreement aims to explore joint investments in Somalia's fisheries, ports, and maritime sectors. The collaboration will focus on integrating fish ports, developing maritime monitoring facilities, upgrading port infrastructure, and establishing vocational training schools.
The partnership will also look into enforcing maritime regulations and supporting technological advancements. This experience will be crucial in exploring opportunities within Somalia's maritime and fisheries sectors.

Somalia's economy is expected to grow by 3.7% this year, with projections reaching 4.5% by 2025. The World Bank attributes this growth to reduced inflationary pressures and stable global commodity prices. Agriculture remains a significant part of Somalia's economy, contributing about two-thirds of its output.
Ahmed Hassan Aden, Somalia’s Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, expressed optimism about the partnership. "By joining forces with AD Ports Group, we are laying the groundwork for long-term growth and sustainability in our port infrastructure and fishing industries," he said.
AD Ports Group has been expanding its presence in Africa, securing concessions in Egypt, the Republic of Congo, Angola, and Tanzania. These efforts align with the UAE’s ongoing support for Somalia’s development initiatives.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, highlighted the potential benefits of this collaboration. "AD Ports Group will explore supporting Somalia’s positive economic growth through potential investments," he stated.
Long-term Vision
The MoU aims to unlock Somalia's maritime potential by leveraging AD Ports Group's global expertise. This initiative seeks to foster regional connectivity and generate sustainable growth in the country’s maritime sectors.
The agreement also includes exploring project management opportunities that could benefit both parties involved. This strategic move is expected to enhance Somalia’s capacity while driving economic development within its communities reliant on the maritime economy.
