AD Ports Group And Burjeel Holdings Collaborate To Improve Healthcare Logistics Across Africa
AD Ports Group and Burjeel Holdings have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore forming a joint venture. This initiative aims to expedite the delivery of top-notch medical supplies and services throughout Africa. The collaboration aligns with the UAE's humanitarian mission to bolster healthcare infrastructure and ensure timely access to essential medicines in underserved African regions.
The potential partnership would leverage AD Ports Group's logistics capabilities alongside Burjeel Holdings' healthcare expertise. This combination aims to enhance the distribution of medical supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals across Africa. By integrating their physical and digital networks, they seek to optimise healthcare supply chains through smarter inventory management and efficient logistics.

AD Ports Group's extensive presence in Africa includes port terminals, economic zones, and logistics assets in Egypt, Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, Angola, and Tanzania. Their Noatum Maritime fleet also provides regional services. This infrastructure could support the handling, transportation, warehousing, and distribution of medical supplies across the continent.
Burjeel Holdings has established healthcare projects in several African countries such as South Sudan, Liberia, Ethiopia, Chad Republic, and Somalia. Their experience in delivering high-quality services supports sustainable health systems development in these regions. The collaboration with AD Ports Group could further enhance their impact on African healthcare.
The MoU builds on AD Ports Group's experience from the Hope Consortium during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative distributed millions of vaccines and testing kits globally, including to Africa. The new venture aims to create long-term benefits by ensuring access to quality medicines and treatments across the continent.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, stated that this MoU could transform their role as a logistics provider in Africa. He highlighted Africa's growing influence on the global economy with Sub-Saharan GDP expected to rise 3.5% this year and accelerate to 4.3% annually through 2027 according to World Bank forecasts.

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with AD Ports Group.
