Active Abu Dhabi: A New Initiative To Foster A Healthier Community Lifestyle

In a significant move to foster a culture of health and wellness, the Emirates Foundation has joined forces with PureHealth to introduce the Active Abu Dhabi initiative. This collaboration was announced in the esteemed presence of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs. The initiative aims to encourage active and healthy lifestyles among Abu Dhabi's residents through a comprehensive year-long programme of fitness activities starting from 18th March 2024.

Recent statistics from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Community Development have shown an encouraging trend, with 37.3 percent of the population already aligning with the World Health Organisation’s global physical activity guidelines. Active Abu Dhabi seeks to capitalize on this positive momentum by promoting sports engagement and fostering societal interaction, thereby motivating a larger segment of the community towards an active lifestyle.

The partnership leverages PureHealth’s Pura, an AI-enabled longevity app offering a personalized approach to health and fitness. Pura is designed to not only provide access to various challenges but also to incentivize participation, thereby enhancing engagement with Active Abu Dhabi and facilitating progress towards healthier living. This initiative aligns with PureHealth’s objective of promoting longevity and holistic health across the community.

Ahmed Al Shamsi, CEO of the Emirates Foundation, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, "This collaboration between PureHealth and Active Abu Dhabi is more than just a partnership; it's the beginning of a movement towards a healthier, more connected community." He emphasized the combined efforts to redefine health promotion, wellness, and community engagement in Abu Dhabi and beyond.

Shaista Asif, Group Chief Executive Officer at PureHealth, shared her vision of creating a vibrant health-conscious community that prioritizes wellness. "Through our collaboration with Active Abu Dhabi, we are a step closer to realizing a community that lives longer, healthier, happier, and fuller lives," she remarked.

Mansour Al Dhaheri, Founder of Active Abu Dhabi, expressed his enthusiasm for uniting the community through activity. "Our partnership with PureHealth significantly extends our reach and enhances our impact in promoting health and wellness as essential components of a fulfilling life," he stated.

The first event under this initiative is 'First Steps', a 14-day walking challenge set to commence on 18th March 2024 at Umm Al Emarat Park. This event is designed to accommodate participants across all fitness levels, offering daily challenges and valuable information alongside prizes linked to challenge completion. The park will welcome participants free of charge every day from 15:00 - 18:00 and 20:00 - 23:00 during the two-week period. Additionally, individuals can participate virtually through the Pura application from any location.

This initiative represents a significant step towards fostering a healthier society in Abu Dhabi by encouraging active lifestyles through innovative partnerships and engaging community events.
