Abu Dhabi's Department Of Health Expands Sanadkom Initiative To Support All Residents With Death-Related Procedures
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has broadened the Sanadkom initiative to encompass all residents of Abu Dhabi. This program is designed to ease the process for families dealing with the death of a loved one. It offers support in handling tasks such as acquiring death certificates, arranging burials, and preparing bodies for travel if needed.
In collaboration with the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma'an, the initiative ensures that bereaved families receive assistance during this challenging time. Ma'an covers all costs associated with issuing death certificates, ambulance services, embalming, and repatriation for residents. This financial relief aims to alleviate some burdens faced by grieving families.

Once a death notice is issued, the Sanadkom team promptly contacts the family to offer condolences and assistance with necessary procedures. They also send a text message detailing available services. The initiative's goal is to provide compassionate support and guide families through required processes during their time of loss.
Families can now complete all death-related procedures directly at healthcare facilities where the death occurred within the Emirate. The attending doctor assists with necessary paperwork, including completing death reports and obtaining permits on behalf of the family, given their consent. This approach simplifies what can be a complex process during an emotional time.
The initiative is supported by seven governmental entities in Abu Dhabi, including DoH, Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, and others. These organisations work together to ensure seamless service delivery for bereaved families. The unified effort aims to make navigating these procedures as straightforward as possible.
Saeed Al Mulla from the Department of Government Enablement highlighted that since its inception in January 2024, Sanadkom has effectively assisted families in completing essential transactions. By consolidating services across multiple government bodies, the initiative provides comprehensive support to those in need.
Hind Al Zaabi from DoH emphasised that under wise leadership directives, they are committed to delivering exceptional services to all community members. Recognising the emotional impact of losing someone close, Sanadkom offers guidance and support throughout necessary procedures.
This expansion reflects a commitment to enhancing community services in Abu Dhabi. By providing practical and emotional support during difficult times, Sanadkom aims to ease burdens on bereaved families while ensuring efficient completion of required processes.
