Abu Dhabi's Department Of Community Development To Host Women's Discussion On Medeem Initiative
The Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi (DCD) is organising an event in Al Dhafra to support Emirati families and community cohesion. A women's discussion session on the Medeem initiative will be held at Madinat Zayed Majlis - Al Dhafra on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The session will include women beneficiaries and partner entities from the region.
The Medeem initiative aims to empower Emirati families by enhancing their quality of life and reinforcing national values rooted in social solidarity. It focuses on strengthening family bonds by providing knowledge, skills, and resources for effective family management. The initiative also promotes dialogue among families and connects them with public and private services.

The Medeem initiative consists of two main components. The first is the Pre-Marital Preparation Programme, which provides young men and women with essential knowledge for a stable married life. Specialists in marital relations deliver this programme at the Medeem Family Readiness Center.
The second component is the Medeem Wedding Model for Women. This model encourages simple Emirati weddings that reflect cultural authenticity while reducing financial burdens. It aligns with national values of moderation and generosity, promoting financial literacy's positive impact on family life.
Dr. Mona Majed Al-Mansoori, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority and Director of the Medeem Initiative, will lead discussions at the event. She stated: "The Medeem Initiative reflects the vision of our wise leadership in empowering Emirati families and strengthening their stability through authentic social practices that harmonize with the spirit of the modern era by reviving our national wedding traditions."
The event will also honour women who embody Medeem's vision by reviving traditional Emirati weddings that showcase pride in national identity and cultural heritage. Dr. Al-Mansoori added: "We invite all women in the Al Dhafra region to join this special gathering, which celebrates Emirati identity and heritage while providing an opportunity to share experiences, honor our cultural roots, and strengthen intergenerational connections in an atmosphere filled with pride and generosity."
Encouraging Community Participation
Medeem offers benefits for newlyweds to ease financial challenges and support family stability. It fosters collaboration between families and institutions to access community services. The initiative targets young women preparing for marriage, married couples, and parents, inviting them to participate in the Al Dhafra session for support programs.
Organised with the Office of the Ruler's Representative Court - Al Dhafra Region and Majalis Abu Dhabi, this session aims to raise awareness about marriage as a key step in family formation. It encourages adopting wedding models blending tradition with modernity while promoting financial literacy's role in enhancing family life.
This gathering provides an interactive space for women to exchange experiences about cohesive Emirati family values that contribute to a connected society. Participants can explore these values during discussions led by Dr. Al-Mansoori on empowering families through social solidarity.
