Abu Dhabi Winter Festival 2025 Promotes Community Engagement And Sustainability Through Diverse Activities
Abu Dhabi City Municipality has launched the Winter Festival to boost community engagement and offer diverse recreational activities. This initiative aims to use public spaces for residents' enjoyment, featuring a lively programme that encourages social connections and provides learning and entertainment opportunities.
The festival in Mohammed Bin Zayed City ran from 5th-14th January, 2025, at the city square. Organised by the Municipal Community Centre, it aimed to strengthen social bonds across all age groups while promoting sustainability and social responsibility. A notable feature was 15 kiosks for productive families to sell their products affordably, supporting small businesses.

In Al Riyadh City, the festival took place from 3rd-12th January, 2025, at Al Bairaq Park in Al Shamkha. It highlighted community participation in Abu Dhabi’s development by showcasing local talents and supporting productive families with 10 kiosks for their goods. Visitors enjoyed entertainment, educational workshops, and interactive sessions.
The Shahama Municipal Centre hosted its Winter Festival from 16th-25th January, 2025, at Al Rahba Square. The focus was on promoting physical activity, public health, and environmental sustainability. Creative workshops, artistic performances, and educational sessions on safety procedures were featured to encourage sustainable behaviours among participants.
The Baniyas Winter Festival occurred from 27th January-2nd February, 2025, at Al Shamkha Square. Organised by the Municipal Community Centre, it offered a vibrant winter setting with recreational and entrepreneurial opportunities. Activities included talking bird shows, kite-flying events, a Baloot competition, art workshops, and agriculture sessions.
Key partners contributed significantly to these festivals. In Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi Police provided logistical support and a K9 demonstration; NMC Royal Hospital offered medical services; Agthia distributed free Al Ain water. Visitors enjoyed children's entertainment, sustainability workshops, handicraft demonstrations, poetry evenings, musical performances, community markets, food trucks, and Discover Abu Dhabi’s Sky.
Educational Workshops and Interactive Sessions
At Shahama's event, partnerships included KEZAD Group and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority. Families enjoyed food zones while public awareness sessions covered topics like pet care and health education on the main stage. The National Centre of Meteorology also participated in this event.
In Al Riyadh City’s festival collaboration involved strategic partners such as Abu Dhabi Police Department of Culture and Tourism Civil Defence Authority who added unique features like virtual reality showcases interactive performances enhancing visitor experience through engaging activities.
These festivals demonstrate the Municipality's commitment to creating meaningful experiences for residents by blending recreation with education promoting sustainability enriching lives fostering unity collaboration across Abu Dhabi suburbs.
