Abu Dhabi University Concludes Second International Conference On Education Focused On AI Integration

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) recently hosted the 2nd ADU International Conference on Education at its Al Ain campus. The event, held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attracted 250 experts from around the world. They gathered to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming education. This aligns with both the UAE's AI Strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference theme was "Advancing Teaching Practices through AI." It was organised in collaboration with UNESCO-RCEP, Queen Rania Teacher Academy, AdvanceHE, and the University of Florida. Discussions focused on AI's impact on curriculum design, student accessibility, and ethical frameworks. Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of ADU, emphasised that AI is reshaping education. He highlighted the need for partnerships to ensure academic programmes are inclusive and aligned with global priorities.

Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to the UAE President and Chancellor of UAE University (UAEU), opened the event. He stressed the importance of cultural and academic institutions in developing an innovative and inclusive education system. The conference served as a platform for international collaboration to advance education through technology.

Global experts delivered keynotes at the conference. Among them were Dr Ayman El-Baz from the University of Louisville, Dr Islem Rekik from Imperial College London, and Vic Stephenson from AdvanceHE. Sessions covered topics like AI literacy, institutional readiness, and balancing innovation with ethics. Panel discussions explored curriculum transformation and sustainable educational models.

Mohammad Fteiha, Director of ADU’s Al Ain campus and Conference Chair, highlighted ADU's commitment to creating inclusive learning environments enabled by AI. These environments aim to equip students with technical skills necessary for contributing to both the UAE’s knowledge economy and the global workforce.

The conference concluded with Best Paper Awards and a gala dinner honouring international participants. Delegates will also enjoy a cultural tour of Al Ain to experience the UAE’s heritage and development model. This reflects ADU's dedication to national priorities by expanding its academic offerings with new AI-focused programmes.

ADU has introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes centred on AI. These initiatives prepare students for success in a tech-driven future while reinforcing ADU's role as a leader in educational innovation within the region and beyond.
