ADU Marks A Milestone With The Conclusion Of Its First International Environmental Design Conference
Abu Dhabi University (ADU) recently concluded the inaugural International Conference on Environment Design, Material Science and Engineering Technologies (EDMSET), a significant event that marked a collaborative effort with the International Experts for Research Enrichment and Knowledge Exchange (IEREK). This three-day conference, hosted at ADU's Dubai campus, served as a crucial platform for over 200 attendees from 59 countries, facilitating discussions and innovations across a broad spectrum of fields such as mechanical engineering, architecture, computation, automation, aerospace engineering, and environmental resilience.
Prior to the conference, an impressive collection of 150 research papers were submitted by experts in various disciplines. These papers were presented during the EDMSET, covering a wide range of topics including technology and sustainability, sustainable materials and techniques, engineering and fabrication techniques, as well as art, creativity, interior design, fashion, media production, sustainable urban futures, and strategies for enhancing urban sustainability. The conference also delved into renewable energy, environmental integration and impacts, sustainable living through green solutions and technologies, and sustainable design and construction.

One of the highlights of the conference was a workshop organised by the University's College of Engineering titled 'Dynamics of Motion'. This workshop aimed at exploring the dynamic movement within urban open spaces through advanced spatial configurational analysis to understand and simulate the intricate patterns of motion that define interactions within the urban environment.
Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of ADU, expressed his satisfaction with the successful hosting of EDMSET's first edition in partnership with IEREK. He emphasized ADU's commitment to enhancing education on sustainability. "At ADU, we are committed to optimising education on sustainability to provide both our students and faculty members with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UAE's sustainability agenda," he stated. This event signifies a pivotal step towards fostering a more sustainable future for generations to come.
The EDMSET conference not only provided a platform for presenting cutting-edge research but also facilitated discussions on sustainable practices across various industries. It underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing global challenges related to sustainability and environmental resilience. Through such initiatives, ADU continues to play a vital role in contributing to the UAE's sustainability goals and promoting innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
