AGSI In Abu Dhabi Reaches Net Zero Emission Milestone In Steel Manufacturing

Arabian Gulf Steel Industries LLC (AGSI), a leading sustainable steel manufacturer in Abu Dhabi, has announced that its steel plant has achieved "Net Zero" emissions. This milestone aligns with the company's strategy to enhance environmental responsibility and sustainable manufacturing practices.

The company's initiatives support the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology. This strategy promotes innovation and advanced technology adoption in industrial systems. AGSI's efforts also contribute to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, circular economy goals, and green industry targets.

AGSI is the UAE's largest steel recycling company, producing 600,000 metric tons of steel bars annually from 100% locally sourced steel scrap. The company invests in carbon reduction technologies and continuously works towards sustainability goals.

In 2023, AGSI received the Greenhouse Gas Verification Statement from DNV, a global auditing leader. This statement confirms AGSI's ability to achieve climate neutrality goals. Additionally, AGSI became the first steel producer certified as carbon neutral under PAS2060:2014 by DNV.

The reuse and recycling of local steel by AGSI aim at producing new steel for local construction and infrastructure projects. Using technologies that extend the lifespan of steel materials reduces carbon emissions compared to traditional production methods.
