Abu Dhabi Social Sector Highlights Quality Of Life Model At UN World Summit In Doha
Social sector entities from Abu Dhabi were part of the UAE delegation at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar, from 4th to 6th November. The summit, organised by the United Nations, saw participation from governments and organisations worldwide. The UAE delegation included Salama Al Ameemi, Abdullah Al Humaidan, Dr. Mona Al Mansoori, Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, and other senior officials.
The summit featured a session titled "Quality of Life as the Foundation of Thriving Societies: Global Models for Implementation," organised by the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD). This session was part of the "Solutions Sessions" theme and included experts from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Singapore’s Ministry of Social and Family Development.

The session emphasised Abu Dhabi’s innovative use of data-driven approaches to enhance quality-of-life principles. It highlighted how these principles are applied in shaping social policy and making evidence-based decisions. Discussions covered themes like data utilisation for quality of life, digitalisation for inclusion, and preparing for the future through skills development and social protection systems.
The Zayed Authority for People of Determination presented its strategy focused on empowerment, sustainability, innovation, and social inclusion. This strategy aims to create a national model that translates social policies into real programmes promoting participation across all life aspects for People of Determination.
The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority showcased its integrated model designed to empower families and promote social sustainability. This model relies on data-driven programmes, strategic partnerships, and institutional integration. The Social Support Programme offers services such as financial assistance, economic empowerment initiatives, financial awareness workshops, and family development activities.
Salama Al Ameemi participated in a panel discussion titled "Transforming the Social Sector toward More Stable and Cohesive Families." She highlighted Abu Dhabi’s efforts in translating global social development goals into practical frameworks that bolster family resilience and community cohesion.
Commitment to Inclusion
Abdulla Al Humaidan stated that their participation in the UN Summit demonstrates a commitment to turning humanitarian principles into actionable policies. These policies ensure inclusion and active participation of people with determination at both national and global levels.
Dr. Arif Al Hammadi noted that involvement in the Global Summit reflects leadership roles in advancing social ecosystems through data-driven approaches. These efforts aim to create sustainable impacts on individuals and society.
Innovative Strategies
Dr. Mona Al Mansoori explained their model built on five key principles: shared responsibility between citizens and government, ecosystem integration with partners, data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and citizen-centred innovation. This model focuses on achieving long-term financial independence for families through effective case management.
The summit also highlighted innovations in services for People of Determination such as assistive technologies, training programmes, professional inclusion initiatives, international partnerships, and knowledge exchange with global disability-focused institutions.
The Abu Dhabi delegation reaffirmed their commitment to global cooperation aimed at building inclusive societies aligned with United Nations’ goals. They continue working towards creating equitable communities while ensuring active participation across various sectors.
