Abu Dhabi Reports 10.3% Increase In Certificates Of Origin, Indicating Growth In Non-Oil Exports
The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) has reported a significant rise in the issuance of certificates of origin. This increase highlights the emirate's growing non-oil exports, successful economic diversification strategies, and a thriving external trade environment. Between June 2024 and June 2025, there was a 10.3% year-on-year growth in these certificates, showcasing the expanding base of local exporters and diverse economic activities in Abu Dhabi.
During the first half of 2025, Abu Dhabi's non-oil foreign trade surged by 34.7%. Non-oil exports increased by 64%, re-exports by 35%, and imports by 15%. This reflects the emirate's vibrant economy and strengthening global trade relations. The previous year also saw strong growth with non-oil trade rising by 9%, exports by 16%, and imports by 3%.

The ADCCI's data indicates that certificates of origin were issued across various sectors, notably chemicals, metals, and engineering industries. This diversity underscores Abu Dhabi's robust industrial base and manufacturing capabilities. The Chamber's efforts to enhance private sector competitiveness have strengthened Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional trade powerhouse.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have notably increased their export activities. They benefit from the Chamber’s initiatives like business matchmaking programmes, specialised export training, and strategic partnerships with leading trade authorities. These efforts support SMEs in accessing international markets efficiently.
Shamis Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, stated that the rise in certificates of origin is evidence of the emirate’s thriving export sector. "The sustained rise in certificates of origin issued by the Chamber is clear evidence of the emirate’s thriving export sector," he said.
Al Dhaheri emphasised that ADCCI continues to facilitate exports through advanced services, strategic partnerships, and robust representation of private sector interests. "Certificates of origin are gateways to broader opportunities and vital tools for elevating the private sector’s contribution to Abu Dhabi’s economic growth," he added.
Certificates as Gateways to Global Markets
Certificates of origin play a crucial role in accessing international markets by confirming goods' national origin. They enable customs advantages through bilateral and multilateral agreements, giving UAE exports a competitive edge globally. This aligns with Abu Dhabi's vision to bolster non-oil trade as a pillar for sustainable growth.
The Chamber highlighted these achievements as significant momentum towards achieving Abu Dhabi’s economic vision. "We regard these indicators as a reflection of business community confidence in the Chamber’s services," noted Al Dhaheri. He reiterated their commitment to developing digital infrastructure to support Abu Dhabi's aspirations.
This progress underscores ADCCI's dedication to supporting non-oil exports as a dynamic force for economic advancement. By providing world-class trade facilitation solutions, they enable SMEs to reach international markets sustainably.
