Abu Dhabi Council Initiates Comprehensive Testing For Artificial Turf And Rubber Flooring
The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) has initiated extensive testing for artificial turf and rubber flooring through the Central Testing Laboratory (CTL) sector's Material Science Laboratories. This effort aims to ensure these products meet safety and quality standards in Abu Dhabi.
Artificial turf and rubber flooring undergo thorough testing to confirm their safety and compliance with local regulations. These tests include formaldehyde analysis, pH analysis, phthalate and phenol content, organic tin compounds, elemental migration analysis, and polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content.

The laboratory's analyses focus on detecting harmful chemicals such as phthalates, phenols, PAHs, formaldehydes, and tin compounds. These tests are crucial for verifying that the materials used do not pose health risks, especially with prolonged exposure.
Abdulla Hassan Al Muaini, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratory Sector, highlighted the importance of these testing services. He stated, "At the Central Testing Laboratory, we are committed to providing testing and conformity assessment services that protect the health and safety of all members of society."
Al Muaini further explained that their laboratories are equipped with advanced equipment to test products precisely. He added, "These tests are a crucial step toward creating a healthy and safe environment in our Emirate."
Supporting Consumer Confidence
The ADQCC's initiative also aims to boost consumer confidence in market products by ensuring they are free from harmful substances. This effort supports the industrial sector by guaranteeing product quality.
The comprehensive testing ensures that artificial turf and rubber flooring comply with global standards and local regulations. These standards set maximum allowable limits for harmful chemicals and banned substances.
Protecting Vulnerable Groups
These rigorous tests help protect vulnerable groups such as children, athletes, and the elderly from dangerous chemicals. By verifying product safety, the ADQCC aims to create a safer environment for all residents of Abu Dhabi.
The ADQCC's testing capabilities enhance product assessments by subjecting items containing phthalates to stringent tests. This ensures that their levels do not exceed permissible limits.
This initiative underscores the ADQCC's dedication to public health by ensuring that artificial turf and rubber flooring products are safe for use in various environments.
