Abu Dhabi Enhances Emergency Readiness Amid Forecasted Atmospheric Depression This Weekend

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crises and Disaster Management Team recently convened at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi for a vital coordination meeting. This assembly was led by Staff Maj. Gen. Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Authority. The primary focus was on discussing preparatory and proactive steps to bolster the readiness for an impending atmospheric depression anticipated to affect the emirate significantly.

The session delved into strategies to improve the responsiveness of Abu Dhabi's emergency teams to potential crises and mechanisms for enhancing collaborative efforts among relevant entities within the emirate. This coordination aims at ensuring swift action by standardising response measures to the atmospheric depression and its impacts, thereby boosting the emirate's ability to effectively tackle emergencies, crises, and disasters.

Enhancing the joint efforts of relevant entities in the emirate was a key topic, with discussions centering on the roles and responsibilities of various teams according to their specialties. Moreover, the meeting covered plans to ensure the business continuity of crucial entities across the emirate and strategies to activate Abu Dhabi Police's early warning ecosystem. This system is designed to issue proactive alerts to residents about safety precautions to ensure public safety and protect individuals and property during adverse weather conditions.

Staff Maj. Gen. Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei lauded the leadership's continuous guidance and support aimed at improving the capabilities of response teams and their pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property. He confirmed the team's preparedness to meet the expected objectives and aspirations, bolstered by comprehensive planning and collaboration with local and federal entities.

The meeting was marked by the attendance of representatives from a wide range of organisations, including Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi, Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi Media Office, Emirates Red Crescent, Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Tadweer Group, the National Centre for Metrology, Abu Dhabi National Petroleum Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, and the Department of Government Enablement.

Through coordination with various entities, Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crises and Disaster Management Team is dedicated to developing an ecosystem for managing emergencies and crises. This initiative aims at enhancing competency, ensuring capacity building, and employing the latest technologies to establish Abu Dhabi as a leading centre in responding to emergencies and crises.
