Abu Dhabi Power Grid's Stellar Performance Strengthens Industrial Sector, Says Report

Abu Dhabi's power grid has been recognized for its exceptional performance in the latest report by the Department of Energy - Abu Dhabi. The 2023 report underscores the emirate's commitment to sustainable infrastructure and innovative technologies, which are crucial for supporting industrial operations. Abu Dhabi's energy network is lauded as one of the finest worldwide, adeptly meeting both current and future demands of the emirate and its industrial sectors.

The report showcases the energy network's extraordinary stability and robustness, positioning Abu Dhabi as an attractive hub for future industries. According to the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) and System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), Abu Dhabi boasts remarkable reliability and continuity in its power supply. Managed by The Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC), the emirate's energy grid ranks among the most reliable globally.

Abu Dhabi Power Excellence in 2023 Report

This reliable access to utilities is pivotal for achieving the UAE's strategic goals, including becoming a global center for trade, tourism, advanced manufacturing, and renewable energy. In terms of power outage durations in industrial zones, customers in Khalifa A and B Industrial Areas experience just over 10 minutes of downtime annually, while those in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) face less than 4 minutes per year. Furthermore, the frequency of outages is notably low, with interruptions occurring once every 10 years in Khalifa B and once every 20 years in ICAD and Khalifa A.

The Department of Energy is actively working with sector companies to formulate comprehensive plans and policies for electricity. These initiatives focus on the optimal use of energy sources, diversifying electricity production methods, and harnessing renewable energy. Abu Dhabi's electricity grid matches the performance of the top 10 European countries, showcasing consistent improvements over time.

Supporting these efforts, the Department of Economic Development endorses the Department of Energy's strategies aimed at reinforcing Abu Dhabi's status as a competitive industrial hub and a preferred destination for talent, businesses, and investments.
