Abu Dhabi Police Issue Warning On Online Fraud Tactics And Fake Auctions For Luxury Watches
Abu Dhabi Police have alerted the public about a resurgence in fraudulent schemes. These scams involve deceptive tactics, such as fake auctions and advertisements for luxury watches on social media. Victims are often tricked into transferring money, only to receive counterfeit items. The police also noted the presence of fraudulent trading platforms that use professional-looking ads to gain trust.
Scammers create convincing profiles on these platforms to appear credible. Once victims deposit money, the platform shows fake profit growth to encourage further deposits. However, when victims try to withdraw their funds, they find it impossible. Additionally, people are warned against paying deposits for fake vehicle plate numbers or properties.

The police highlighted scam websites posing as insurance providers or popular brands. These sites offer attractive deals to entice users into paying fees. After payment, scammers drain the victim's bank card balance. Jobseekers should be cautious of "fake employment" scams where fraudsters mimic recruitment agencies online.
These employment scams exploit official events by creating fake profiles of companies and collecting fees for non-existent jobs. The public is advised not to share confidential information like account details, passwords, ATM PINs, or verification codes online. Abu Dhabi Police stressed that no legitimate bank employee would request such information.
Residents are encouraged to report any fraud attempts or suspicious calls from unknown individuals asking for bank detail updates. Reports can be made at the nearest police station or through the Aman service by calling 8002626 or texting 2828. This supports ongoing efforts to combat online fraud and protect the community.
