Abu Dhabi Police Teams Up With Environment Agency To Boost Environmental Efforts
The General Command of Abu Dhabi Police and the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster environmental protection efforts in the emirate. This collaboration aims to enforce legislation, raise environmental awareness, and promote sustainability practices in alignment with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability.
Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Police, and Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of EAD, signed the MoU in the presence of several officials from both organisations. Al Sharifi emphasised the significance of enhancing cooperation with various government agencies to achieve strategic goals and future aspirations.

Dr. Shaikha Al Dhaheri highlighted that this MoU aims to strengthen cooperation between EAD and Abu Dhabi Police. She stated, "This MoU aims to enhance the cooperation between the EAD and the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police and activate joint environmental initiatives to help achieve environmental security and prosperity for the community, in line with the directives of the Abu Dhabi government."
The partnership will establish mechanisms to control legal violations and take measures within their jurisdiction. Both parties will benefit from each other's expertise and develop capabilities in environmental protection. A joint platform will be created to address key environmental challenges and enhance control measures.
Al Sharifi explained that the MoU outlines essential requirements and developments that contribute to improving environmental protection. He noted that adhering to environmental laws and regulations is crucial for achieving sustainability.
Raising Public Awareness
A significant aspect of this partnership involves raising public awareness about environmental laws through campaigns. The application of smart monitoring systems will also be adopted to ensure effective enforcement. Additionally, a comprehensive training plan for relevant authorities will be formulated to ensure best practices are followed.
Dr. Shaikha Al Dhaheri expressed pride in this partnership, emphasising its importance in implementing environmental laws and regulations. She acknowledged the vital role played by Abu Dhabi Police in protecting the environment.
