No Fireworks, Supervision Of Kids: Top Guidelines For Enjoying Eid Al Fitr Festivities In Abu Dhabi
In light of the Eid Al Fitr holiday, Abu Dhabi Police, together with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, have unveiled a set of guidelines focused on prevention and safety. These measures are designed to uphold the safety of the community and the protection of property throughout the celebrations.
The authorities emphasize the importance of following these guidelines to support ongoing efforts in safeguarding lives within the emirate.

Adhere to traffic regulations
- Moderate speed while driving: Maintain a safe and controlled speed to reduce the risk of accidents, especially during the busy festive period when roads may see increased traffic. This helps ensure drivers have enough time to react to unexpected situations.
- Yield to emergency vehicles: Give way promptly and safely to ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles. This ensures that emergency responders can reach those in need without delay, potentially saving lives during critical situations.
- Avoid hazardous actions (e.g., performing stunts or reckless driving): Refrain from dangerous behaviors such as speeding excessively, weaving through traffic, or attempting stunts. These actions not only endanger the driver but also threaten the safety of pedestrians, passengers, and other motorists on the road.
Do not use fireworks
Fireworks, while festive, pose significant risks including fires, burns, and injuries. The authorities strongly advise against their use to prevent accidents that could harm individuals, damage property, or overwhelm emergency services during the celebrations. Opt for safer ways to celebrate to maintain a secure environment for all.
Ensure all electronic devices meet safety standards
- Chargers: Use only certified and undamaged chargers to avoid electrical malfunctions, overheating, or short circuits that could lead to fires or injuries.
- Extension cables: Ensure extension cords are of high quality, not overloaded, and free from wear and tear. Faulty or misused cables can cause electrical hazards, particularly in households bustling with holiday activities.
Provide adult supervision for children near main roads
Children may be excited and less cautious during the festivities, increasing their vulnerability near busy streets. Adults should closely monitor them to prevent them from wandering into traffic or engaging in risky play near roadways, ensuring their safety amidst the holiday excitement.
Guide children on safely crossing streets
Teach and supervise children on proper road-crossing habits, such as looking both ways, using pedestrian crossings where available, and waiting for a safe moment to cross. This guidance is essential to reduce the likelihood of accidents, particularly in areas with heightened vehicle activity during the celebrations.
