UAE Rains: Abu Dhabi Police Enforce New Speed Limits On Key Roads
On May 2, Abu Dhabi Police implemented a significant adjustment to the speed limits on several key roads throughout the region, aiming to enhance road safety and regulate traffic flow as rains continue to hit various parts of the country. This anouncement was made on the official X channel. This change sees the activation of a speed reduction system, setting the new speed limit to 100km/h on segments of major roads connecting Abu Dhabi with neighboring areas.
Areas Affected by Speed Limit Changes

The roads witnessing this adjustment include the Maktoum Bin Rashid Road (Abu Dhabi-Dubai), specifically from Al Mafraq to Rawdat Al Reef, and the Al Ain - Dubai road, promoting safer travel conditions between these critical points. Additionally, the Abu Dhabi - Al Ain Road experiences this change in two segments: from Al Mahawi to Al Sad, and from the Complex Bridges to Al Wathbah.
Further implementations of the 100km/h speed limit are set on Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Road from Al Saja to Masakin, and on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Road from Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Al Bahyah. The Al Khaleej Al Arabi Road from Musaffah Bridge to Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road connecting Abu Dhabi to Al Ghwaifat, from Al Nof Bridge to Al Ghwaifat and from Al Hameem to Al Ghwaifat, have also seen the activation of this speed reduction system.
This strategic move is part of Abu Dhabi Police's ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of all road users, aiming to reduce the risk of accidents and improve the overall driving experience. By adjusting speed limits to a uniform 100 Km/h in these specified areas, authorities intend to foster a safer driving environment, especially on roads that experience heavy traffic and are crucial for intercity travel.
The implementation of these new speed limits is now in effect, and motorists are advised to adhere to the updated regulations to avoid penalties and contribute to the safety and efficiency of road travel in Abu Dhabi and its connecting regions.
