Abu Dhabi's Oil And Gas Sector Boosted By New Professional Conformity Programme

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council's (ADQCC) Conformity Assessment Services Department has recently marked a significant milestone in the oil and gas sector of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Following the successful completion of a pilot programme and final evaluations, the department has officially approved personnel services conformity programmes for eight specific professions within this critical industry.

This initiative was designed to rigorously assess the skills and competencies of workers, ensuring they meet the high standards required for their roles. The evaluation process involved 100 workers and was conducted in two stages, focusing on aligning their abilities with the demands of the targeted professions. These professions encompass a wide range of technical skills, including those of a copper pipe installation technician, precision instrumentation electrician, gas pipe fitter, gas pipe welding assistant, liquefied petroleum gas cylinder transportation assistant, service metre connection and disconnection reader, operations boy, and carbon steel pipe installation welding technician.

New Conformity Boost for Oil & Gas Sector

The accreditation and practical tests conducted for these professions are not just a formality but a crucial step towards ensuring that workers in the oil and liquefied petroleum gas sectors are fully equipped with the necessary skills and competencies. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the conformity requirements for these professions in the future, thereby improving safety and efficiency in the sector.

Badr Khamis Al Shemaili, Executive Director of the Conformity and Standards Services Sector at ADQCC, expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of these conformity programmes. He highlighted the importance of such initiatives in elevating the quality and performance standards within Abu Dhabi's oil and liquefied petroleum gas sector. Al Shemaili also extended his gratitude towards the Department of Energy for its vital cooperation and partnership in conducting and evaluating these tests.

Furthermore, Al Shemaili underscored the critical role of collaboration between government and private sectors in executing these conformity programmes. Such partnerships are essential for achieving the shared goal of enhancing industry standards, thereby ensuring that Abu Dhabi remains at the forefront of safety and efficiency in the oil and gas sector.

This development represents a significant step forward in ADQCC's ongoing efforts to ensure that workers in key sectors are well-prepared to meet their job requirements. It also reflects Abu Dhabi's commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency in its industries, contributing to the emirate's economic growth and sustainability.
