Abu Dhabi Mobility Launches Al Aliah Ferry Terminal To Boost Local Connectivity And Development

The Integrated Transport Centre, part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has opened a new ferry terminal on Al Aliah Island. This project, in partnership with Abu Dhabi Maritime from AD Ports Group, aims to boost local development and improve connectivity for residents. The terminal enhances access to the island, facilitating the movement of goods and people while supporting future maritime service expansion.

The 3,900 square metre facility features a ferry terminal accommodating 60 passengers. It includes berths measuring 15 metres and 12.5 metres for ro-ro vessels, an office building of 80 square metres, seven parking lots, six truck parking spots, and crew accommodation. These amenities ensure efficient loading and unloading processes.

Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director-General of the Integrated Transport Centre, stated that this opening is a significant step in developing advanced maritime infrastructure. "The opening of Al Aliah Ferry Terminal marks a new milestone in Abu Dhabi Mobility’s journey towards developing an advanced maritime infrastructure that supports a comprehensive marine ecosystem," he said.

Abu Dhabi Mobility's collaboration with Abu Dhabi Maritime focuses on creating a modern maritime ecosystem. This initiative aligns with their commitment to smart technologies and sustainable solutions in maritime transport. The goal is to position Abu Dhabi as a global maritime hub by enhancing infrastructure and promoting environmental sustainability.

Captain Saif Al Mheiri, CEO of Abu Dhabi Maritime and Chief Sustainability Officer at AD Ports Group, highlighted the significance of this development. "The opening of the ferry terminal marks another milestone following last year’s inauguration of the Saadiyat Ferry Terminal," he noted. The introduction of customised modern ferries further supports their vision for a world-class transportation network.

The new terminal aligns with efforts to develop an integrated transport system in Abu Dhabi. It reflects ongoing dedication to improving maritime infrastructure for safer and more efficient waterway experiences. These initiatives aim to enhance user satisfaction while contributing to the emirate's sustainable future.
