Abu Dhabi Livestock Festival Highlights Advanced Farming Technologies In Cattle And Poultry

The Cows and Poultry event, part of the wider Livestock Festival linked to the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award, recently concluded at the Award’s pavilion within the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba. The week-long programme highlighted modern livestock practices and the UAE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen sustainable food security.

Held from 3rd to 9th January, the event was organised through a partnership between the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, the Emirates Poultry Breeders Association and several specialised private firms. Government bodies, national farms, dairy and poultry companies, and private exhibitors took part, demonstrating strong engagement from different livestock industry stakeholders.

Participants focused on showcasing updated cattle and poultry farming methods, including smart farm management tools, efficient resource use and strict biosecurity standards. Educational sessions and guidance programmes encouraged breeders to adopt these techniques, while interactive activities for visitors helped explain how improved livestock practices support food security plans across Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE.

Within the Livestock Festival, which continues until mid-February, organisers announced winners of the Best Breeds competition. A total of 20 awards were presented across several categories. These covered Arab and West breeds, along with farm production classifications, giving recognition to high-performing herds and flocks that meet strict quality and productivity benchmarks.

Adel Al-Shabibi, Chairman of the Livestock Festival Team, said, "the event reflects the festival’s commitment to supporting food security-related production sectors and empowering farmers and producers through cooperation between government and private entities." Al-Shabibi explained that the festival also underlines development in Abu Dhabi’s livestock sector through global best practices and modern technologies that raise efficiency and sustainability.

Al-Shabibi noted that the Cows and Poultry event created chances for knowledge sharing, highlighted national success stories and drew attention to investment opportunities in smart agricultural solutions. These outcomes align with the leadership’s vision for sustainable food security and continued support for local livestock products within the UAE market.
