Abu Dhabi Takes The Lead In Global Food Security Summit Addressing Hunger Challenges

Steve Harvey, a well-known American TV host and comedian, has commended Abu Dhabi's leadership for its efforts in tackling global hunger and enhancing food security. In a video message during the Global Food Security Summit, part of Abu Dhabi's Global Food Week, Harvey emphasised the initiative's significant impact on transforming global food systems.

Harvey remarked, "Global Food Week is not just an event – it's a movement to ensure no one goes hungry. It’s truly inspiring to witness Abu Dhabi's unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and collaboration." The event takes place from 26–28 November at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi.

Organised by ADNEC in partnership with ADAFSA, this major event features numerous international activities and exhibitions highlighting the latest innovations and technologies. It showcases the UAE’s pivotal role in shaping future global food security and agriculture while promoting collaboration among producers, consumers, governments, and international organisations.

Harvey praised Abu Dhabi's leadership for addressing this crucial issue. He stated, "Abu Dhabi is where the future is happening now," applauding the UAE leadership for spearheading initiatives that unite global leaders in tackling urgent challenges.

In his address, Harvey highlighted the pressing issue of global hunger. He noted that "Today, over 800 million people – 1 in 10 globally – do not know where their next meal will come from. And in 2024, with all our resources, technologies, and knowledge, that simply isn’t right."

The Global Food Week aims to bring together experts worldwide to develop sustainable solutions for feeding a population expected to reach 10 billion by 2050. The event includes the Global Food Security Summit (GFSS), where leaders will discuss strategies for ensuring equitable access to nutrition.

Exploring Advanced Innovations

Attendees can explore the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition showcasing advanced innovations like robotic farming and lab-grown meat. Another highlight is the Date Palm Exhibition celebrating the UAE’s rich agricultural heritage and its ongoing role in food security.

Harvey stressed the unifying power of food by saying, "Food bridges cultures and unites humanity. This isn’t just about feeding people today – it’s about hope, survival, and ensuring food for generations to come."
