Abu Dhabi's New Marriage Loan Initiative Aids Emirati Family Growth
The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA) has launched the Marriage Loan initiative. This initiative is part of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy and the Emirati Family Growth Programme, initiated by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi. It aims to enhance family life quality for families, youth, and parents in Abu Dhabi.
Eligible newly married UAE Nationals can receive an interest-free loan of up to AED150,000. To qualify, applicants must be employed and possess an Abu Dhabi family book. The initiative supports citizens in establishing their marriages on a secure financial footing.

The SSA recognises that strong families are essential to community stability and sustainable development in Abu Dhabi. The Marriage Loan initiative encourages young people to marry according to UAE heritage and wedding traditions, fostering resilient and cohesive families.
Abdulla Al Ameri, Director-General of SSA, stated, "This initiative underscores the Abu Dhabi Government's dedication to strengthening family cohesion and social bonds, fostering population growth among citizens, and facilitating the formation of stable families." He added that these efforts align with SSA’s strategic direction to reinforce Emirati family stability and amplify their positive societal impact.
The Marriage Loan is available to newly-wed UAE Nationals where the husband holds a Family Book issued in Abu Dhabi. The husband must be at least 21 years old, while his wife must be at least 18 years old at marriage time. The husband's monthly employment income should be less than AED60,000, and registration must be confirmed on the Medeem Digital Platform.
Ahmed Al Azeezi, Executive Director of the Social Support Applications Sector at SSA, mentioned that this initiative aligns with their efforts to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s social care system by helping establish strong and stable families. He assured that this new service would be provided alongside existing social support services with high standards of governance and transparency.
