Abu Dhabi Judiciary Achieves Amicable Resolution In 61.3% Of Family Disputes In 2023

In a significant stride towards fostering family unity and stability, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has successfully resolved a substantial portion of family disputes through amicable means. During 2023, the ADJD managed to settle about 61.3% of cases presented to its family guidance committees, translating to 15,667 family disputes resolved without the need for court intervention. This effort not only highlights the department's commitment to promoting a culture of tolerance but also underscores its dedication to alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, the Undersecretary of ADJD, emphasized the department's ongoing efforts to align with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. These directives focus on enhancing family stability, cohesion, and societal harmony by encouraging the resolution of conflicts outside the courtroom. The ADJD's initiatives aim at settling disputes through mutual consent, thereby avoiding the adversarial process of litigation.

The success of these initiatives is partly attributed to the department's diverse awareness campaigns designed to educate and encourage families towards reconciliation. A notable example is the "Reconciliation is Good" campaign, which conducted 47 family awareness workshops last year. These workshops had a positive impact on approximately 4,000 individuals, demonstrating the effectiveness of proactive engagement in conflict resolution.

Despite the challenges associated with dispute resolution, the ADJD's approach has proven effective in maintaining high rates of amicable settlements. By continuing to promote alternative dispute resolution practices and fostering a culture of tolerance, the department aims to further enhance family stability and societal harmony in Abu Dhabi.

The efforts of ADJD reflect a broader commitment to upholding family values and unity through constructive dialogue and mutual understanding. As these initiatives continue to evolve, they serve as a testament to the department's dedication to creating a more harmonious society by prioritizing amicable solutions over contentious legal battles.
