Abu Dhabi Judicial Department's Forensic Centre Achieves International Accreditation

The Forensic and Electronic Sciences Centre of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has received the international accreditation certificate for its Forensic Medicine Department from the National Organisation of Forensic Physicians (NAME). This achievement makes it the first centre in the Middle East to earn this certification and only the third outside the United States, following Canada and Singapore.

Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, highlighted that this international accreditation is a significant milestone. He stated that it aligns with the UAE leadership's vision to develop a modern judicial system that enhances Abu Dhabi's global competitiveness and leadership.

Al Abri noted that this accomplishment showcases leadership and excellence in forensic services. It adheres to internationally recognised standards and incorporates recent advancements in forensic examinations. This supports the progress of criminal justice by ensuring high-quality forensic services.

He also mentioned that this recognition prioritises and favours the adoption of technical reports from the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department on a global scale. This further solidifies its reputation in providing reliable forensic evidence.

The Centre for Forensic and Electronic Sciences has also renewed its chemical laboratory's accreditation certificate for another session. This follows four years after its initial acquisition in 2019, covering areas such as narcotics, toxins, and seized items examinations.

Moreover, Al Abri explained that this new accreditation complements existing accreditations in criminal examinations and electronic evidence examinations. It underscores the Centre's commitment to maintaining high standards across various forensic disciplines.

This achievement not only highlights the Centre's dedication to excellence but also reinforces its role in advancing forensic science within the region. The international recognition serves as a testament to its ongoing efforts to stay at the forefront of forensic innovations.
