Abu Dhabi Champions Innovation And Sustainability In The Global Energy Sector
Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, highlighted the significance of World Energy Day. He emphasised its role in promoting energy, water, and technology conservation while safeguarding the environment through sustainable practices. He stated that Abu Dhabi is leading a new era of innovation and sustainability by encouraging communities, businesses, and industries to adopt responsible energy practices.
Al Jarwan outlined a vision for a future where secure, affordable, reliable, and clean energy propels growth. This vision aims to enhance resilience and leadership on the global stage. The Abu Dhabi 2050 Energy and Water Sector Strategy focuses on creating an integrated ecosystem prioritising people, prosperity, and the planet in decision-making processes.

He explained that advanced technologies and artificial intelligence are being leveraged to unlock potential across sectors. By embedding circularity and efficiency, Abu Dhabi is redefining energy's role as a catalyst for opportunity. The goal is to become a leader in digital, AI, and technological adoption within the sector.
The UAE Energy Strategy and the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Efficiency Strategy 2030 guide efforts to optimise resources. These strategies aim to reduce consumption while driving net-zero innovations that will shape the sector's future. Al Jarwan noted that from Abu Dhabi, known as the Capital of Energy, they are inspiring global shifts towards smarter, cleaner, and more secure energy futures.
He concluded by stating that these initiatives inspire policymakers and individuals worldwide to take action for a more sustainable world. "From unlocking the potential of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, to embedding circularity and efficiency across sectors, we are reimagining the role of energy as a catalyst for opportunity," he said.
