Abu Dhabi Impact Summit Drives Global Tech Innovation Forward

The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and Hub71 have recently initiated a significant collaboration to introduce the Impact Summit in Abu Dhabi. This event marks a pivotal moment, positioning the emirate as a leader in the global tech innovation and entrepreneurship arena. The summit, themed "Big, Bold, Business", took place at the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), highlighting Abu Dhabi’s role as a vibrant global business and investment hub. It aimed at fostering the success of companies leading in innovation.

The Impact Summit was designed to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s dedication to supporting the growth of tech entrepreneurs both locally and internationally. It featured sessions that emphasized the crucial role of innovation in driving economic transformation. Notable speakers, including industry visionaries and pioneers, shared their insights on leveraging advanced technologies for value-driven outcomes.

Abu Dhabi's Leap in Global Tech

One of the standout sessions, "Return on Impact: Abu Dhabi, the world’s capital of capital", featured Badr Al Olama, Director-General of ADIO, alongside Emmy award-winning comedian and author Trevor Noah. They discussed Abu Dhabi's ambition to become a leading destination for innovators globally. Additionally, Idris Elba, known for his roles in acting and humanitarian efforts, spoke about the Sherbro Island City project in Sierra Leone, highlighting its potential for sustainable growth and community empowerment.

Badr Al-Olama expressed his views on Abu Dhabi's emerging status as a premier destination for startups and innovators worldwide. He emphasized the emirate's strategic ecosystem designed to attract and nurture top-tier talent globally. Al-Olama highlighted Abu Dhabi's diverse culture and quality of life as key factors making it an attractive hub for innovation.

The Summit coincided with the second day of Hub71’s Impact Event, announcing empowering programmes and a new talent strategy aimed at bolstering Abu Dhabi’s global tech ecosystem. Since its launch, this ecosystem has attracted over 260 startups, collectively raising AED 5.4 billion (US$ 1.47 billion) in venture capital.

Joining Trevor Noah and Idris Elba at the Summit were notable sports figures such as Paul Pogba, Amir Khan, and Tommy Fury. Their participation in panel discussions added diverse perspectives on innovation and entrepreneurship. The Summit was supported by Maven Global Access’ flagship program Access Abu Dhabi, further showcasing the wide-ranging interest in fostering a dynamic environment for tech innovation in Abu Dhabi.
