Abu Dhabi To Host First Kite World Cup From 25th October To 2nd November 2023
The Kite World Cup's organising committee has finalised preparations for the event, marking its debut in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This global competition is part of the Fahid Island Watersports Festival, scheduled from 25th October to 2nd November. Over 150 top athletes worldwide will participate, showcasing their skills in various watersports disciplines.
A press conference was held on Fahid Island to unveil details about the festival and championship. Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, attended alongside athletes and partners. The event is a collaboration between Aldar, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and AD Ports Group.

The championship will feature renowned athletes such as French kitesurfer Kylie Belloeuvre, Spanish competitor Borja Vellon, American athlete Justin Chait, and Emirati kitesurfer Mohammed Al Mansoori. Fryderyk Szczesny, an Abu Dhabi resident, will also compete. These participants are set to demonstrate their prowess in kitesurfing and other water sports.
Sheikh Ahmed expressed pride in hosting this international event in Abu Dhabi. "We are proud that Abu Dhabi is hosting this global event as part of a distinguished festival for watersports," he stated. He hopes to highlight the significance of this major event with support from partners and entities involved.
The Fahid Island Watersports Festival aims to position Abu Dhabi as a premier destination for watersports. It offers a mix of international competitions, live performances, and family-friendly entertainment. The sporting programme includes kitesurfing, wing foiling, e-foiling, hydrofoiling, wake foiling, and freestyle surfing.
Emirati athlete Mohammed Al Mansoori is ready to compete against top global competitors. He noted that significant preparations have been made recently to achieve positive outcomes in the championship alongside fellow Emirati athletes.
This prestigious event seeks to enhance Abu Dhabi's reputation on the global watersports stage by providing a unique blend of activities that cater to both participants and spectators alike.
