Abu Dhabi To Host World Kickboxing Championships For First Time In Middle East This November

The UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation has confirmed that Abu Dhabi will host the World Kickboxing Championships for Masters and Seniors from 21st to 30th November 2025. This event will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). It is the first time the championship will be held outside Europe, highlighting the UAE's capability in organising major international sports events.

During a signing ceremony, the hosting agreement was finalised between the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO) and the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation. The event was attended by Roy Baker, President of the International Federation, and Ali Khoury, a board member of the UAE federation. This agreement marks a significant step for kickboxing in the region.

World Kickboxing Championships in Abu Dhabi

Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, who leads both Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federations as well as the UAE federation, stated that hosting this championship is a new milestone for UAE sports. He believes it reflects international confidence in the country's ability to host world-class events. The championship will further establish the UAE as a global hub for combat sports.

Roy Baker expressed his pride in selecting Abu Dhabi for this prestigious event. He noted that WAKO operates under a transparent recognition system similar to that of the Olympic Games. "The UAE was selected due to its rapid growth in kickboxing and its capabilities as a leading regional hub," he said. More than 2,000 athletes from 150 countries are expected to compete.

Ali Khoury highlighted that hosting this event outside Europe for the first time signifies a transformative moment for kickboxing. He emphasised that bringing it to an Arab nation showcases the UAE's distinguished position globally. The championship adds value to major sporting events worldwide.

Khoury extended gratitude to UAE leadership for its unwavering support of kickboxing and Muay Thai. This support has elevated the federation’s standing both regionally and globally. The event will also serve as a platform to showcase remarkable developments in these sports locally and internationally.
