Abu Dhabi Health Department Enhances Global Healthcare Collaboration With Russia Through Strategic Visit
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) recently completed a strategic visit to Russia, aiming to enhance collaborations in healthcare innovation. The delegation focused on precision medicine, genomics, and longevity research. This aligns with Abu Dhabi’s goal to establish itself as a global leader in life sciences and medical innovation.
During the visit, Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Under-Secretary of DoH, led discussions with Mikhail Murashko, Russia's Minister of Health. They explored potential collaborations in vaccine development, medical education, and genomics research. These discussions are part of Abu Dhabi's broader strategy to create an integrated healthcare system.

The delegation also engaged with several Russian institutions such as Sechenov University and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). These meetings aimed at fostering academic exchanges and joint research initiatives. The focus was on clinical trials for a new cancer vaccine and enhancing collaboration in genomics and oncology.
In addition to academic partnerships, the delegation met with Emirati medical students studying at top Russian universities. This engagement underscores the importance of building capacity in communicable diseases through education and training.
The Abu Dhabi team explored partnerships with leading Russian healthcare facilities like the Medsi Group and the National Medical Center of Oncology. Discussions centered on advanced treatment protocols, rehabilitation services, addiction treatment, and mental healthcare. These efforts aim to improve patient care and treatment outcomes significantly.
Recognising innovation's role in healthcare's future, the delegation visited Skolkovo Innovation Centre and Biocad Pharmaceutical Company. They discussed collaboration opportunities in biotech and medtech initiatives in Abu Dhabi. The focus was on strengthening drug availability in gene therapy and digital health innovation.
