Abu Dhabi Rolls Out Forward-Looking Hazmat Strategy To Protect People and Planet

The Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre (ADHMMC) has introduced its strategy for 2025-2027. This initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi Government's directives and aims to enhance hazardous materials management in the emirate. The strategy is designed to protect both the community and the environment by regulating all stages of hazardous materials handling through innovative solutions and advanced technologies.

Ahmed Saif bin Zaytoon Al Muhairi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, stated, "The launch of the centre’s strategy is a pivotal step in reinforcing the hazardous materials management system in the emirate. It reflects our leadership’s vision and commitment to building a safe, sustainable, and investment-attractive environment in the capital, further establishing Abu Dhabi as a global hub for sustainability and innovation."

The strategy focuses on several key objectives. These include integrated management of hazardous materials, empowerment through capacity building, enhancing institutional maturity, and developing legislative frameworks. These goals aim to improve laws and policies that ensure effective governance across all stages of hazardous materials handling.

Khalfan Abdulla Khalfan Almansoori, Acting Director-General of ADHMMC, emphasised the roadmap's significance. He noted that it aims for comprehensive advancements in hazardous materials management. This aligns with Abu Dhabi's national agenda to boost economic and social development.

The centre plans to adopt advanced technologies to improve risk management readiness. This includes creating an integrated digital system with platforms and centralised databases supported by monitoring systems for proactive tracking. Such efforts are part of ADHMMC's commitment to digital transformation.

Almansoori added that these technological advancements will enhance operational efficiency while strengthening public safety systems. The centre aims to keep pace with digital transformation trends within the emirate.

The implementation of this strategy is guided by core values such as professionalism, excellence, integrity, integration, and proactiveness. By adhering to these principles, ADHMMC reaffirms its dedication to global best practices in community safety and environmental sustainability.
