ADFD Elevates Global Development Dialogue as Strategic Partner at WGS 2024

The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) recently marked its presence as a strategic partner at the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai, a pivotal three-day event from 12th to 14th February. Under the theme "Shaping Future Governments," the summit brought together a diverse group of government leaders, thinkers, experts, and decision-makers. The aim was to exchange insights, anticipate future trends, and explore the use of innovation and technology for the betterment of humanity and the development of various sectors.

Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, underscored the Fund's dedication to its role in the WGS. He highlighted how the summit serves as an invaluable global platform for establishing partnerships with international institutions. Furthermore, it aids in developing forward-thinking strategies to enhance governmental readiness amidst rapid global advancements and economic shifts. "We will continue our efforts and cooperation with our local and international partners adopting innovative solutions, promoting sustainability principles, and developing vital sectors to address development challenges and stimulate the economy of developing countries," Al Suwaidi stated.

The WGS 2024 saw participation from over 4,000 individuals across the public and private sectors, engaging in 110 interactive sessions. The event featured 200 speakers representing 80 international, regional, and intergovernmental organisations, including prominent entities such as the UN, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Health Organisation, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Arab League. Notably, it also welcomed eight Nobel Prize winners and facilitated 23 ministerial meetings attended by more than 300 ministers.

In collaboration with a select group of knowledge partners, the Summit unveiled more than 25 strategic reports. These documents concentrated on identifying best practices and emerging trends across crucial sectors. This initiative underscores the Summit's commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration that can drive significant progress in addressing global challenges.

The involvement of ADFD as a strategic partner at the WGS underscores its commitment to leveraging international cooperation for sustainable development.
