Abu Dhabi Fund For Development Achieves AED 229 Billion In Total Funding Across 107 Countries

The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) took part in the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai, themed "Shaping Future Governments." This event gathered global leaders, ministers, and experts to exchange knowledge and drive societal progress. The summit aims to strengthen international partnerships by adopting innovative strategies to address development challenges and economic changes, ultimately shaping a better future for humanity.

Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ADFD, expressed pride in their decade-long partnership with the summit. He stated, "We are proud of our strategic partnership with the World Government Summit, which has spanned 10 years of excellence and leadership. During this time, we have worked hand in hand with our local and international partners to achieve its goals and objectives aimed at anticipating the future of governments."

ADFD Reaches AED 229 Billion in Funding

Al Suwaidi highlighted the significance of the summit as a platform for innovation. "The World Government Summit is an inspiring global platform that we must invest our efforts and energies in to make the most of successful experiences," he said. The Fund expanded its activities to 107 countries, with funding reaching AED229 billion for strategic projects across vital sectors.

This year marks ADFD’s 10th anniversary as a strategic partner of the summit. Over the past decade, ADFD has played a key role in fostering development opportunities through international cooperation. It has leveraged expertise in economic fields while contributing significantly to Emirati exports' growth.

ADFD remains committed to supporting developing countries' strategic goals with a strong focus on sustainability. This aligns with the UAE’s vision of strengthening international cooperation and building a more prosperous future for coming generations. The Fund's efforts have enhanced economic stability in beneficiary countries.

The summit featured over 30 heads of state and government, more than 80 organisations, and 140 delegations. Its agenda included 21 forums exploring major trends, over 200 sessions with more than 300 speakers—including presidents and ministers—and over 30 ministerial meetings attended by more than 400 ministers.

Strengthening UAE's National Economy

Al Suwaidi also emphasised ADFD’s commitment to strengthening the UAE’s national economy: "We have doubled our efforts to develop our national economy." The funding allocated for this goal amounted to approximately AED10 billion, contributing to Emirati companies' competitiveness globally through the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX).

The Fund participated in a workshop titled "The UAE in BRICS: Shaping Global Trade and International Interconnectedness." It focused on integrating efforts between the UAE and BRICS countries for sustainable growth. The session provided an overview of enhancing cooperation with BRICS nations.

Exploring New Opportunities

ADFD held bilateral meetings with delegations from participating countries to explore new opportunities for priority development projects. These discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation on sustainable initiatives and exploring innovative financing solutions for global challenges.

The Fund's delegation actively engaged in panel discussions addressing pressing issues like climate change, renewable energy transition, and water security. These sessions showcased successful experiences and technologies that contribute to advancing sustainable development worldwide.

The summit serves as a global platform facilitating knowledge exchange among leaders from various sectors. It aims at driving societal progress by adopting innovative strategies that address rapid economic changes while shaping a better future for humanity through strengthened partnerships.
