Abu Dhabi Executive Council Forms Committee To Enhance Emirati Folk Arts And Cultural Heritage

The Abu Dhabi Executive Council has announced the formation of the Abu Dhabi Folk Arts Committee. This new body, led by Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, aims to preserve and promote Emirati folk arts. It includes representatives from several key organisations such as the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

The committee is tasked with developing strategies to maintain and enhance performances of traditional arts like Al-Yowla, Al-Harbia, Al-Razfa, and Al-Ayyala. They focus on improving performance quality by ensuring skilled talents are available. Additionally, they propose teaching methods for these arts using approved curricula.

New Committee Established for Emirati Folk Arts

In collaboration with relevant authorities, the committee supervises folk arts performances at official events. They establish evaluation criteria to ensure high standards are met. Furthermore, they organise awareness campaigns and workshops to highlight the cultural importance of these traditional arts.

Part of the committee's role involves setting regulations for permits and licences for individuals and groups performing folk arts. They also establish training standards to ensure performers are well-prepared. The aim is to foster a deeper appreciation for these cultural expressions among both performers and audiences.

The committee also seeks to cultivate a widespread passion for folk arts by encouraging enthusiasts and training skilled performers. They work on legislative frameworks that support the growth and sustainability of these traditional practices within the community.

Efforts are made to promote folk arts as a vital part of cultural heritage in Abu Dhabi. By doing so, they hope to inspire more people to engage with these art forms, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
