In a significant development for the legal sector in Abu Dhabi, thirteen new private notaries have officially taken their oaths in front of Counsellor Yousef Saeed Alabri, the Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD). This event marks their commencement of duties, as outlined under Law No. 11 of 2017 concerning Notaries in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Decision No. 38 of 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. These regulations govern the private notary sector and the regime for government agency employees authorised to act as notary public.

The induction of this fifth batch of private notaries into law firms authorised to carry out notary public functions underscores a strategic move to enhance the ease of doing business in Abu Dhabi. Counsellor Alabri highlighted that this initiative aims to bolster Abu Dhabi's competitive edge on a global scale while supporting Emiratisation in the private sector by creating new job opportunities for young Emiratis.

New Private Notaries in Abu Dhabi

By integrating the practice of the private notary profession within law firms, the ADJD seeks to diversify options for customers needing to complete legal transactions. This approach is expected to stimulate competition among service providers, particularly by leveraging technological infrastructure to facilitate access to Judicial Department services. Such advancements are anticipated to improve performance quality and align with the rapid economic developments within the Emirate.

Furthermore, Counsellor Alabri emphasized the ADJD's commitment to training and qualifying UAE nationals for the notary profession. Through career guidance programmes, direct technical support, and specialised training at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy (ADJA), the department aims to equip candidates with the necessary knowledge, attitudes, and skills. This comprehensive preparation ensures that new notaries can perform their duties with utmost accuracy, adhering to established rules, standards, and legal principles.

The successful licensing and training of these professionals bring the total number of private notaries in Abu Dhabi to 80. These individuals are now serving across various law firm branches throughout the Emirate, ready to apply their expertise in document editing and law application for notarisation purposes. The ADJD's focus on rigorous training programmes underscores its dedication to maintaining high standards in legal practices and supporting the Emirate's economic growth through efficient legal services.
