Abu Dhabi Adds 30 New Activities To Freelancer Licence, Boosting Economic Opportunities

The Abu Dhabi Business Centre (ADBC) at the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has introduced 30 new activities to the Freelancer Licence. This move allows UAE nationals and residents to explore more business opportunities, promoting a supportive economic environment in Abu Dhabi that encourages entrepreneurship with minimal costs.

Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, Executive Director of ADBC, stated: "In line with our commitment to keeping pace with the latest developments and changes in the local and global economic landscape, ADDED is dedicated to providing all necessary services for various commercial and economic activities. This step reflects our eagerness to expand the range of business activities available to entrepreneurs in Abu Dhabi while responding to freelancers’ aspirations, thus enhancing their effective contribution to cementing a strong, resilient, and diversified economy."

30 New Freelancer Licence Activities

The Freelance Professional Licence is crucial in leveraging professionals' knowledge and expertise. It enables them to offer specialised services to organisations, institutions, companies, and individuals. This initiative enhances Abu Dhabi’s economy by supporting diversification efforts and accelerating the shift towards a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.

Over the past year, there has been a significant increase in interest in the Freelancer Licence. A total of 1,013 licenses were issued for various activities. Al Mansouri added: "We remain committed to continuing our efforts to provide a supportive and vibrant environment for innovation and to enhance the contribution of professionals to contribute to economic growth, solidifying Abu Dhabi's position as a preferred destination for talents, businesses, and investments."

The newly announced activities by ADDED cover diverse areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) development, Electronic Equipment and Devices Systems and Software Designing, Oil and Natural Gas Fields Production Software Design, Data Classification and Analysis Services. Other areas include Development and Innovation in Computer Systems and Programmes, Production Models by 3D Imaging, and Online Players Support Service Providers.

With these additions, the Freelance Professional License now encompasses 100 different activities. This expansion aligns with ADDED's commitment to staying ahead of labour market trends and digital transformation.

This initiative not only fosters entrepreneurship but also facilitates business establishment at minimal cost. It underscores Abu Dhabi’s dedication to creating an environment conducive to business growth.
