Abu Dhabi's Education First Forum Introduces Innovative Strategy For Educators

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, recently graced the second edition of the Education First Forum. This event, hosted by the Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, was themed ‘From Ask to Action’. A significant highlight was the unveiling of ECAE's new strategy titled ‘A Future-Ready College of Education’, aimed at reshaping the educational landscape.

The forum not only showcased interactive educational sessions but also presented key findings from a research study on future education indicators, conducted in collaboration with Cambridge University. Additionally, a comprehensive report from the forum's inaugural edition was revealed, offering insights from 183 educators and outlining developmental paths for education. This report was produced in partnership with the National Institute of Education (NIE) in Singapore.

Innovative Education Strategy Unveiled in Abu Dhabi

During his speech, H.H. Sheikh Khaled emphasized the UAE leadership's dedication to fostering an education ecosystem that promotes innovation and creativity. He highlighted the role of education in overcoming current challenges and unlocking future opportunities. The forum aimed to provide a comprehensive experience through activities that introduced participants to ECAE's latest programmes and strategies, including the Educators Competency Framework designed to support educators throughout their careers.

The Emirates College for Advanced Education unveiled its new strategy at the forum, positioning itself as a beacon for future educational endeavours. This strategy includes innovative academic programmes and a new educator competency framework to bolster professional growth and shape the future of education in the UAE.

The college also introduced its new logo, symbolising its commitment to educational excellence and embodying its core values and aspirations. This logo represents a bridge between past achievements and future goals, embracing diverse perspectives and leveraging knowledge for transformative education.

Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology and Chair of the Board of Trustees of ECAE, stated that this new strategy aligns with the UAE leadership's vision of prioritising education. It focuses on excellence, lifelong learning, research, innovation, and making a global and local impact through academic programmes that enhance the college's initiatives.

Dr. May Al-Taee, Vice Chancellor of ECAE, explained that the development of this strategy was a collaborative effort involving educators, school principals, experts, and partners both locally and internationally. The strategy aims for a balanced approach with 60 percent practical content across various programmes complemented by 40 percent theoretical components. This mix is designed to refine the skills of emerging education professionals and prepare them for their roles within the sector.

Dr. Al-Taee further added that this strategy represents a culmination of collaborative efforts aimed at elevating the teaching profession, expanding the education workforce, and empowering UAE National talent to lead in the education sector. This initiative is in line with the aspirations of UAE leadership to advance educational achievements and competencies.
