Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week Set To Enhance Global Early Childhood Development Initiatives
Abu Dhabi is set to host a global dialogue on Early Childhood Development (ECD) from 29th October to 2nd November 2024. This event, known as Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week, is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed. It aims to enhance international cooperation in advancing ECD initiatives worldwide.
The event is a collaborative effort by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) and its partners, reflecting the UAE's dedication to improving the welfare of young children. By engaging with various stakeholders, ECA seeks to create a more inclusive future for children. The week-long programme will feature numerous activities designed to address global challenges and promote innovative solutions for child development.

Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week will include several key events such as the WED Forum, ECD Innovation Day, and ECD Research Convening. These activities aim to share knowledge and inspire new dialogues on holistic child development. More than 75 industry speakers will lead over 25 sessions, exploring various aspects of the global ECD agenda through debates, roundtables, and panel discussions.
The initiative follows the launch of the second edition of the World Early Childhood Development (WED) Movement at COP28. This flagship initiative brings together experts and partners to drive cross-sector change in early childhood development. The themes for this year's event include intentional parenting, culture and identity, and sustainable family-friendly cities.
Thousands of families across the UAE are invited to participate in The Fair and other community-wide activations during Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week. These activities highlight the role of ECD in building sustainable societies. Key partners supporting this initiative include Mubadala Investment Company, ADQ, Aldar, Erth Hotel, and the National Academy for Childhood Development.
Sana Mohammad Suhail, Director-General of ECA, emphasised the strategic investment in early childhood development: "We are strategically investing in early childhood development to create a generation equipped with the skills, resilience, and creativity necessary to lead the UAE into its next phase of growth and prosperity."
Commitment to Future Generations
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Chair of WED, stated: "Early childhood development is a cornerstone of sustainable, long-term growth." She highlighted that Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week aligns with the UAE’s commitment to ensuring every child can thrive through cooperation and strategic partnerships.
The programme includes ECD Innovation Day on 29th October; WED Forum from 30th to 31st October; ECD Research Convening from 29th to 31st October; The Fair from 31st October to 2nd November; and Community Activations throughout the week.
Al Rym Abdullah Al Falasy from the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood noted: "The UAE is making significant efforts...to provide a strong foundation for children's futures." These initiatives focus on creating an inclusive environment that helps children realise their potential while promoting child rights regionally and globally.
This comprehensive programme aims not only at fostering innovation but also at reinforcing Abu Dhabi's role as a leader in promoting child rights globally. Through these efforts, Abu Dhabi seeks to ensure that every child has access to opportunities that support their growth and well-being.
