Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority Launches Campaign To Highlight Importance Of Early Years Development
The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) has initiated the Their Early Years Matter Campaign. This campaign aims to highlight the critical importance of early childhood, from conception to age eight. It emphasises that these years are crucial for a child's lifelong health, learning, and wellbeing. The initiative encourages families and communities to appreciate how everyday interactions can shape children's futures.
During the early years, a child's brain develops rapidly, forming over one million neural connections every second. By age five, around 90% of brain development is complete. At this stage, children can recognise at least 10,000 words, showcasing significant vocabulary growth. These formative years offer a unique opportunity for cognitive and emotional development.

Research indicates that investing in early childhood can yield returns of up to 13% annually. Every dirham spent on early childhood may save up to AED22.40 in future costs. Children raised in loving and secure environments develop emotional resilience and confidence, which are essential for building strong families and thriving communities.
Early experiences also impact physical and mental health significantly. Proper nutrition, responsive care, and safe surroundings are vital for lifelong health. These factors reduce the risk of chronic illnesses later in life. Additionally, early years lay the foundation for skills like focus, adaptability, problem-solving, and cooperation necessary for success in school and society.
The ECA stresses that investing in early childhood is a collective responsibility involving government, private sectors, and communities. Creating a nurturing environment for every child requires collaboration across these sectors. The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week 2025 invites everyone to participate in activities celebrating children's potential.
The campaign serves as an educational initiative leading up to Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week 2025. Running from 17th to 23rd November under the theme "Together We Can Make Abu Dhabi a Family-Friendly Emirate," it encourages families to explore events across the emirate through www.adecweek.ae.
