Abu Dhabi Delegation Aims To Enhance Trade And Investment Partnership With Germany In September 2025

A delegation led by Shamis Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will visit Germany from 15 to 18 September 2025. This visit aims to strengthen economic partnerships and enhance trade and investment cooperation with Germany, a key partner for the UAE. The trip underscores the importance of innovation and knowledge exchange in today's transforming global economy.

Economic ties between the UAE and Germany have seen rapid growth recently. In 2024, non-oil trade between the two nations reached AED 50.68 billion (US$ 13.8 billion), marking a 5.4% increase over the previous year. During this visit, several agreements will be signed to advance economic cooperation, boost entrepreneurial projects, and promote sustainability and innovation.

The delegation includes representatives from key entities such as the Abu Dhabi Chamber, Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Hub71, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), private-sector representatives, and entrepreneurs. The visit will focus on sharing knowledge and best practices, particularly in empowering SMEs, renewable energy, industrial innovation, technology, clean energy, financial services, and logistics.

Family businesses are another area of interest for collaboration. Germany is a global leader in this sector with 96 companies among the world's largest family businesses. These firms generate revenues exceeding AED 4.77 trillion (US$ 1.3 trillion) and provide about 3.9 million jobs. This presents opportunities for both countries to exchange expertise in governance, sustainability, and growth strategies for family enterprises.

Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri stated: "This visit reflects the deep and longstanding relations between Abu Dhabi and Germany. It embodies our commitment to forge and cement long-term economic partnerships grounded in innovation and sustainability. With our shared vision for the green economy and digital transformation, Emirati German cooperation is set to achieve greater growth and prosperity."

He further noted that economic relations between Abu Dhabi and Germany serve as a model of integration and partnership. The increasing presence of German companies in Abu Dhabi highlights growing confidence in its status as a global economic hub supported by an attractive investment climate, modern infrastructure, and progressive legislation enhancing business competitiveness.

Expanding Business Activity

In the first eight months of 2025, German business activity in Abu Dhabi expanded significantly with memberships at the Abu Dhabi Chamber rising by 17% compared to the same period in 2024. This growth strengthens bilateral ties further positioning Abu Dhabi as a preferred hub for German investors in the region.

"We look forward to further strengthening this cooperation through joint initiatives that align with Abu Dhabi’s economic strategies," Al Dhaheri said. "This will open broader horizons for Emirati and German companies to invest, innovate, and build a global model for sustainable partnership that can face challenges and create future opportunities," he added.
