Abu Dhabi Customs And US Customs Collaborate On Digital Transformation And Trade Facilitation

Abu Dhabi Customs, led by Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, recently visited the US as part of an economic delegation. The meeting with the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) took place at the World Trade Center in Manhattan. Francis Russo, CBP Director of Field Operations, welcomed the delegation. Discussions centred on sharing expertise and exploring future collaboration opportunities.

The discussions highlighted the importance of digital transformation in customs management. Both parties emphasised integrating artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to modernise operations. This approach aims to enhance efficiency while maintaining a balance between trade facilitation and oversight.

Abu Dhabi and US Customs Strengthen Trade Ties

Abu Dhabi Customs showcased its "Trusted Digital Trade Corridor" pilot project during the meeting. Meanwhile, the US side presented its "Broker Management Programme." These initiatives reflect a mutual interest in adopting innovative solutions to streamline global trade processes.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori remarked on the significance of this meeting for cooperation between Abu Dhabi Customs and US Customs. He stated, "This meeting marks a milestone in the journey of cooperation between Abu Dhabi Customs and US Customs and Border Protection." He stressed that sharing expertise in digital transformation can create more secure and efficient customs operations.

Francis Russo expressed satisfaction with the exchange, saying, "We welcome the Abu Dhabi Customs delegation to our field office in New York and are pleased with this constructive exchange that reflects the strength of the partnership between our administrations." He noted that sharing best practices helps address global trade challenges.

Exploring Future Partnerships

The visit aimed to strengthen ties between UAE and US customs authorities. It opened new avenues for deploying advanced technology and improving shipping procedures. The focus was on developing trusted trade channels between both countries to support stable global supply chains.

The visit concluded with a tour of One World Trade Center's 64th floor, followed by a commemorative photo session. This gesture symbolised the commitment to ongoing collaboration and partnership development between Abu Dhabi Customs and US CBP.
