Abu Dhabi Customs Implements Generative AI Solutions To Enhance Customs Operations And Data Quality

Abu Dhabi Customs has introduced Clearance.AI, a suite of generative AI solutions aimed at enhancing customs operations and data quality. This initiative was unveiled at GITEX Global 2025 within the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion. It underscores the commitment to using advanced technology for a faster, transparent customs experience, aligning with Abu Dhabi's goal of becoming the first fully AI-native government by 2027.

Clearance.AI automates four essential customs processes in its initial phase to boost productivity and efficiency. It enables self-clearance for non-restricted goods by allowing users to scan invoices and documents via smart devices or upload files directly. The system extracts and verifies data, completes clearance requests, and sends real-time notifications to relevant parties.

Generative AI Enhances Abu Dhabi Customs Operations

The solutions also include smart valuation of goods, comparing declared values against global and local reference prices for accurate revenue collection. Additionally, it verifies customs registration numbers by checking document authenticity and automatically flags cases needing further review, with alerts for resolution. The fourth feature focuses on post-clearance audits, analysing transactions in real time to detect discrepancies and anticipate trends.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Customs, highlighted that these innovations mark a significant step in implementing leadership directives to adopt AI across systems. He noted that this milestone supports Abu Dhabi’s leadership in integrating advanced technologies into government customs operations.

Al Mansoori emphasised that this initiative represents a major leap in advancing customs operations and supporting digital transformation efforts. By leveraging AI technologies, it aims to save time, reduce effort, streamline procedures, and enhance performance and service effectiveness. These innovations make trade smoother and more accessible for companies and individual importers alike.

The launch reflects Abu Dhabi Customs’ strategic vision and pioneering initiatives to reinforce its global leadership. By adopting advanced smart systems across all operations, Clearance.AI aims to enhance processes and improve data quality. This contributes to facilitating trade, ensuring smooth goods flow, and increasing customer satisfaction through simplified procedures.

Impact on Data Analysis and Decision-Making

Al Mansoori further noted that Abu Dhabi Customs’ AI solutions will bring a qualitative shift in data analysis and decision-making by processing vast amounts of information instantly and intelligently. They also help improve data quality, reduce human error, enhance risk management efficiency, strengthen compliance, and ensure more accurate revenue collection.

The initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision to be the world’s first fully AI-native government as part of the Digital Strategy 2025–2027. It reflects forward-looking planning to reinforce global leadership through innovative solutions that enhance customs processes while contributing to the national economy.
