Abu Dhabi Customs Boosts Sea Port Efficiency With Advanced Inspection Technology
The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has recently completed a project to enhance the efficiency of customs operations at its sea customs centres. This initiative involves equipping these centres with advanced inspection devices that utilise artificial intelligence and rapid scan technology. The goal is to ensure smooth shipment flow, facilitate trade, reduce time and effort, accelerate inspections, and increase customer satisfaction.
Khalifa Port and Zayed Port Customs Centres have been outfitted with five advanced devices adhering to the highest radiological health and safety standards. These include two devices for scanning bags and parcels, two for scanning containers and trucks at Khalifa Port, and one device for scanning containers at Zayed Port. Each device can process up to 120 trucks per hour, all connected to a control room for continuous monitoring.

These advanced devices are part of Abu Dhabi Customs' strategic projects aimed at meeting the needs of all customs ports. They enhance performance efficiency and speed up inspection processes, positively impacting the smooth transit of goods, facilitating trade movement, and supporting sustainable economic development.
Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Customs, stated that this project continues their efforts to strengthen the inspection system. He highlighted that similar advanced devices were successfully implemented at Al Ain's land customs centres in January. "At Abu Dhabi Customs, great importance is placed on developing systems to raise operational efficiency according to the highest safety standards for employees, customers, and shipments," he said.
The use of advanced technology and artificial intelligence applications in these devices contributes significantly to meeting customs operations requirements with best practices. This initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi Customs' vision of establishing global leadership by enhancing customer satisfaction through improved operational efficiency.
By equipping sea customs centres with these modern devices, Abu Dhabi Customs aims to streamline inspection processes further. This not only ensures the smooth flow of shipments but also supports sustainable economic growth by facilitating trade more efficiently.
This project underscores Abu Dhabi Customs' commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve its services continually. The integration of AI-supported rapid scan technology exemplifies their dedication to maintaining high standards in customs operations while prioritising safety and efficiency.
