Abu Dhabi Civil Defence And MOHRE Launch Workers Safety And Rights Awareness Campaign

Abu Dhabi Civil Defence has started a new awareness campaign with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, or MOHRE, focusing on workers across Abu Dhabi. Operating under the slogan "An Aware Worker… Sustainable Development", the campaign targets workplaces and labour accommodation, and highlights safety practices, employee rights, responsibilities and ways to prevent risks before incidents occur.

The initiative aims to improve worker safety standards and overall quality of life, while reinforcing knowledge of UAE Labour Law. It focuses on helping workers understand their rights and duties, and explains how proper awareness of occupational health and safety can reduce accidents, protect lives and support long-term development goals across Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi launches workers safety campaign

Field outreach teams visit major labour areas, including Mussafah and Al Mafraq, where large numbers of workers live and work. During these visits, staff highlight fire prevention steps, emergency response procedures and correct reporting methods. Workers also receive guidance on official communication channels for contacting relevant authorities when emergencies, disputes or safety concerns arise.

The campaign also uses continuous visual content to keep safety messages visible inside labour cities and residences. These materials are shown in cooperation with the Labour Accommodation Authority – Abu Dhabi Labour Cities. Information focuses on daily risks in workplaces and housing, and explains simple measures that reduce fire hazards, injuries and unsafe practices in busy industrial zones.

Additional awareness segments are recorded and sent through Business Services and Guidance Centres to reach workers and employers who cannot attend field activities. This method helps deliver consistent messages in several locations at once, ensuring that both employees and business representatives receive the same information on safety rules and labour regulations.

Brigadier Mohsen Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of the Emergency and Safety Sector at Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, said the joint initiative demonstrates strong institutional cooperation with MOHRE and supports a preventive culture. "This initiative represents an important step toward raising preventive awareness among workers by reaching them directly in their places of residence and work, which contributes to building a safer and more sustainable working environment," he said.

Dalal Saeed Mohammed Al Shahi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Labour Protection Sector at MOHRE, explained that awareness forms a central part of the ministry’s work to regulate the labour market. Al Shahi said the campaign helps workers better understand their legal rights and obligations, while supporting MOHRE’s wider effort to maintain a safe, fair and sustainable work environment across the UAE.

Together, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence and MOHRE use this awareness campaign to combine legal education with practical safety advice for workers. Through field visits, visual messages and recorded guidance, the initiative addresses daily risks, strengthens preparedness and reinforces knowledge of rights and duties, aiming to create safer workplaces and living spaces for workers across Abu Dhabi.
