Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge 2023 Features Over 100 Competitors From 31 Countries In Thrilling Desert Race
The Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge's third season is set to begin on Saturday in the Tilal Swaihan area of Al Ain. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and the Emirates Motorsports Organisation (EMSO), this event will see around 100 participants from 31 countries, including over 25 Emirati drivers and riders. This mix of professionals and amateurs promises a thrilling atmosphere.
Participants will navigate a desert stage exceeding 100 kilometres, featuring five laps through Al Ain's soft sands. The route includes 62 motorcycles, 8 quads, 8 cars, and 22 buggies. This challenging course tests skill, speed, and endurance. Competitors come from diverse countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UK, Germany, France, Portugal, South Africa, Australia, the US, India, Russia, China, Japan, Lebanon, Jordan, Canada, Uzbekistan, Switzerland, Poland and Brazil.

Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi of ADSC stated that the event combines excitement with safety standards. "Once again," he said, "the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge unites professionals and amateurs in a thrilling yet safe competitive environment." The championship consists of four rounds with titles awarded based on cumulative points.
Al Hashemi emphasised the importance of nurturing local talent through these events. He noted that such initiatives support local drivers' participation in international championships. He also highlighted the valuable partnership with EMSO in organising this event.
The organising committee has outlined the schedule for the event. Administrative and technical checks are set for Friday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. On race day itself, registration will occur between 6:00 am and 7:30 am. Following registration is a briefing for drivers before the official start at 8:30 am. The podium ceremony is scheduled for 11:45 am at the designated awards area.
